SEA is pleased to introduce the T1 and T4 code pads to our range.
The humble code pad is commonly used on many automatic gate installations across the country, from London to Birmingham and Manchester. SEA are pleased to add the T1 and T4 to our existing range of key pads, which include offerings from Videx (the 21PS) and Siemens Bewator (the K42).
Both the T1 and T4 have a single channel output, both are externally rated (with the T4 having the highest protection level) and both have touch activated buttons making them extremely durable and hard-wearing. A key feature for the T1 and T4 is their built in card reader.
Each code pad comes with 2 swipe cards and the unit can hold up to 2000 in memory. Further more each card is programmed to a specific memory location, allowing for cards to be removed and replaced as the site grows; making these key pads an extremely well rounded entry solution for small or medium electric gate installations and perimeter security applications.
SEA is constantly striving to deliver the safest most reliable gate systems available on the market. A key aspect of this is product usability. Any truly safe and reliable system cannot be easily delivered without paying close attention to the usability of a product. To this end SEA are please to introduce the Compact CND LC and the Maxxi CND LC safety edges to the market with a range of features:
Cut the edge to any size, straight through and fit within a few minutes of arriving on site, no pre-assembly required
Complies with the maximum safety standards of CAT2 and CAT3 using 8K2 resistive technology
Connect multiple edges together to reduce costs for control equipment (No control equipment necessary with a Gate 2 DG panel)
Compatible with internal safety edge transmitter system and SCHED safety edge controller (for upgrades on older sites)
This month SEA UK is shining a spot light on the humble photocell. We are constantly developing our range to include the latest industry technology and modern photocells have come a long way over the years with many small improvements adding up to make a big difference. Today’s photocells are tough, easy to fit, discreet and neatly designed. In this article we will be focusing on our 3 main anti vandal photocells, the Photo 60, the Anti-Vandal Small Battery (Battery Photocell) and the Slim Anti Vandal.
Photo 60
The first true anti vandal photocell in our range is nearly 9 years old now but the Photo60s forward thinking design has served it well and today it incorporates many important features, such as the ability to rotate the focusing lens through 180 degrees making fitting easier. However its most important feature is this photocells ability to take a real beating. Our customers prefer the Photo60 for industrial sites and schools but its tough, smart design makes it a winner in any situation.
Market leader for strength (see video)

180 degree rotation for easy installation
Full weather proofing IP66
12/24 AC/DC supply for maximum versatility
Anti-Vandal Small Battery
The Anti-Vandal Small Battery is new to our range and has already proven a big hit. Following the same design path as the Photo60, the AVSB incorporates a robust aluminium outer shell with a neatly packaged internal frame making the overall photocell smaller and thus less of a target, while also allowing it to carry batteries. This combination for small size, tough exterior and 180 degree rotatable lenses make the AVSB one of the best choices in the battery photocell market.
Tough aluminium outer casing
10m range
Battery life 18/24 months
180 degree rotation for easy installation
Full weather proofing IP55
12/24 AC/DC supply
Batteries fit securely in transmitting photocell
Slim Anti Vandal
Slim line photocells are often overlooked and from an Anti Vandal point of view that’s a very good thing. The original SEA Slim Line photocell used a plastic outer casting and was designed for tight spaces. The new model uses the same material for its aluminium outer casing as the Photo60 and AVSB. This gives the latest version of the Slim Line a tough long lasting exterior. The new Slim Line is perfect for anti vandal sites which require a discrete safety solution.

10 Year anniversary special offer, contact us for details!
In March the SEA Field has been on sale for 10 years and to celebrate this, we will be running a series of promotions.
Ten years ago the Field was created as part of a drive by SEA to move into the residential gate market. The company was already strong in the commercial and industrial gate sectors, but was often exceeding the specification requirements for domestic gates; the Field range changed this. SEA now had a motor that was as strong as its commercial range but at a price that was more attractive for domestic customers. Some of the Field’s key features are hidden within the gear box. The substantial gear is sandwiched between 2 oversized bearings; this arrangement provides both strength and stability and is largely responsible for it’s outstanding reliability.
Comments from our customers
“We have been using the Field for over 7 years; they are tough reliable operators,” Roger Weymouth – Automatic Gate System Ltd
“Our main business focuses on commercial and industrial gate projects across the country, so when we carry out work on driveway gates we have very high standards. The SEA Field system has earned our trust in this area and continues to impress us.”Alastair Sandison – Hill Trident
“We have been installing the Field operator for five years in a wide variety of situations. It has been extremely quiet and reliable; we would not hesitate to recommend it,” John Carpenter – Valedene Door and Gate Systems
The Field is an underground motor which fits inside a buried foundation box and acts as the bottom hinge of the gate leaf. It is ideal for ornate driveway gates as the automation is concealed from view. There are 2 versions of the Field, the 250 and the 600. The Field 250 is capable of handling a leaf length of up to 2.5m or a gate weighing up to 250kg. The Field 600 is capable of handling a leaf length up to 3.5m or a gate weight up to 600Kg.
They both share many of the same internal components, with the Field 600 having the addition of a machined main gear and an oil filled gear box.
A robust casing with large internal main gear, 2 support bearings and machined worm drive all contribute towards this operators proven reputation for reliability. In the last 10 years of service, we have never had a motor returned with a faulty or broken main gear. This attention to detail and precision engineering is typical of SEA products.
When combined with the Gate 2 DG, the Field 600 and 250 both have impressive adjustable current sensing features designed to ensure that the highest safety levels are met. The Field motor will also fit into the foundation box of some alternative manufacturers, allowing you to upgrade an existing system with more robust and reliable operators.
The Field 250 comes with physical stops in closing and the Field 600 has stops in opening and closing. It is also possible to upgrade from the standard Swing 2 DG to the more sophisticated Gate 2 DG control panel which comes complete with an advanced 230V current sensing feature.
For more information on the Field 250 or 600 contact us today on 0121 433 3348.
An SEA promotion over the Christmas period has raised money for the School in a Bag charity. Thank you to everyone who bought the Christmas Offer this year. You have helped us donate a total of 25 bags to the School in a Bag charity. School in a bag is an extremely worthy charity that, in a nut shell, provides school equipment and resources to vulnerable children in poor or disaster affected regions of the world.
The charities website says, “According to UNICEF figures, 20% of the world’s child population will never attend school. School in a Bag is a simple solution created to help poor, orphan, vulnerable and disaster affected children throughout the world. Each School Bag is filled with stationery, learning resources and eating utensils that will enable a child to write, draw, colour, calculate, express themselves and above all learn. An education for these children could be their passport to a life out of hardship and poverty.”
SEA is pleased to be raising money for this charity through our own donations and through our promotional offers. To join our mailing list and receive promotions and newsletters (we send about one a month) simply head over to our Contact page and fill in the form.

SEA has created a new line of super heavy gate motors called the Super range. The Super Full Tank is SEA’s latest and most powerful swing gate motor. Capable of operating a 2000kg gate leaf or a gate leaf up to 9m in length. This makes it perfect for large palisade industrial gates, high security gates and gates with very long leaf lengths. The Super Full Tank has been designed to handle large gate that regularly experience excess forces such as wind loadings. The system is 230VAC so it is controlled by the extremely popular Gate 2 DG control panel, no need for a 3 phase. Current sensing issues are not a problem for this 230V motor, but safety is still a major consideration in the Super Full Tanks design. Pressure adjustment valves restrict the maximum amount of force the motor can use to push the gates. Safety edges can be easily added to the Gate 2 DG control unit allowing the Super Full Tank to operate on a continuous basis in complete safety.
Powered Gate Safety is a hugely important issue for both gate installers and the public. At SEA UK we are committed to ensuring that we can provide not only the safest equipment but also the best advice possible. The DHF has been vital in building knowledge and developing best practices for the whole automatic gate industry. We are pleased to support them and Gate Safety Week!
SEA Technical staff all receive training in Gate Safety products and best practices. For more information try our gate safety product pages for Safety Edges, Photocells and Hinge Guards. At SEA we are continuing our strong tradition of focusing on gate safety and are pleased to offer a new heavy duty hinge area protection product. Hinge Guards are designed to fix to the gate post and the gate, covering the danger area and stopping a person from inserting their hands or feet into the gap. They are really that simple.
In covering this dangerous and often overlooked area of the gate, many accidents can be avoided, especially with younger children. They are an ideal solution for schools, factories or pedestrianised areas and perfect for both manual and automatic gates. For more information, go to our Hinge Guard page.
